The Day We Meet Again - Miranda Dickinson

Buy Here When I first picked this book up I knew it was going to be a good read based on others by this author. I had no doubts about jumping straight in and devouring it. I read this book on holiday and got through it on 2 afternoons sat by the pool. Once I delved in I wanted to follow the characters and find out more. I really liked that they both had stories they needed to figure out. Find themselves. But yet finding out about each other as well. The whole plot of this book draws you in amd doesn't let you leave. It brings hope, happiness and sadness all in one story. You route for them and hope that you have got it right. Worth riding the roller-coaster. Brilliantly well written, great visual descriptions and brilliant characters. 4 stars

We Met in December - Rosie Curtis

Buy Here When I started this book my first thought was that it was a bit early to be reading a Christmas novel. However, I in my true fashion didn't read the blurb, or had done but had forgotten it. This is not a Christmas novel at all, rather it is a beautiful, well written one. With characters you can't help but fall in love with. I enjoyed the fact that chapters were from both characters perspective. It gave the book more dynamic feel and allowed you to get in their heads a bit more. The author has done a really good job describing all the scenes. It made you feel like you were there walking along side them, or sitting in the house. It is something we can all relate to, we have all had a house share where crushes develop. It felt very real, the storyline was not far fetched, but people just getting through life and the speed bumps you hit along the way. I have nothing but praise for this book and the author. Brilliant. Perfect to snuggle up to under a blanket w

Lies Lies Lies - Adele Parks

Buy Here # Prologue  May 1976  Simon was six years old when he first tasted beer. He was bathed and ready for bed wearing soft pyjamas, even though it was light outside; still early. Other kids were in the street, playing on their bikes, kicking a football. He could hear them through the open window, although he couldn’t see them because the blinds were closed. His daddy didn’t like the evening light glaring on the TV screen, his mummy didn’t like the neighbours looking in; keeping the room dark was something they agreed on. His mummy didn’t like a lot of things: wasted food, messy bedrooms, Daddy driving too fast, his sister throwing a tantrum in public. Mummy liked ‘having standards’. He didn’t know what that meant, exactly. There was a standard-bearer at Cubs; he was a big boy and got to wave the flag at the front of the parade, but his mummy didn’t have a flag, so it was unclear. What was clear was that she didn’t like him to be in the street after six o’clock. She t

The Stranger Game - Peter Gadol

Buy Here THE FIRST TIME I FOLLOWED ANYONE WAS ON A SUNday afternoon in late November, the sky still gray with ash some weeks after a wildfire to the north. I had gone out on a hike, hoping to clear my mind by scrambling up the narrow path of a dry canyon, which worked until I walked the down trail back to my car. As I was driving out of the park, I passed a picnic area where there was a party underway, a birthday celebration with a hacked-at piƱata twirling off a low branch, smoke rising from blackened grills, balloons tethered to the benches. At the periphery, I noticed a little boy, himself a balloon in a red, round jacket and red, round pants. He didn’t seem to be the center of attention, so I didn’t think he was the birthday boy. He must have been about three. He was tossing an inflated ball, also red, back and forth to his parents, or not exactly to his parents. He launched the ball instead toward the road where I’d pulled over and parked.  I hadn’t planned any of thi

The Apartment - K. L. Slater

Buy Here When I was asked to be on this audiobook tour I jumped at the chance. I love a good audiobook, I listened to this while commuting.  This started a bit odd and wasn't sure what to make of it. It took me a while to get in to. However I was soon gripped and I keot guessing what was going to be the outcome. I guessed wrong.  When the story of Little Albert was introduced I was more in grossed having studied this at university. This sparked my interest and led me to come up with more theories. I was still guessing wrong. The narrator on this book was great, she kept all the voices clear, you could tell who was who. The voices were great, it really added to the story. I don't think a better narrator could have been chosen. The writing of this book was fantastic, it toyed with you. Making you think you have got it all sussed but you don't. Lots of twists and turns. Great characters and a really great story. This was a very enjoyable listen. I
